About Dr. Garcia-Rios
Growing up, Kirk Garcia-Rios, D.O. saw the positive effects doctors can have on their patients. With a father who is a physician, Dr. Garcia-Rios was introduced to the field of medicine at an early age and knew that when he got older, he wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps. Having the desire to help as many people as possible, Dr. Garcia-Rios chose Family Medicine as his specialty, so that he could have an impact on as many patients throughout their lifetime.
Dr. Garcia-Rios began his career by receiving his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences' College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. As an active-duty member of the U.S. Army, he then began a Family Medicine internship at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg in North Carolina before transitioning to the Medical Service Corp. Following his honorable discharge, Dr. Garcia-Rios began the Osteopathic Family Practice Residency program at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, Michigan. During this time, continued his service as a member of the Army National Guard.
Dr. Garcia-Rios utilizes a holistic approach when treating patients, taking into account a person's mind and spirit, in addition to their body. He knows the best outcomes are achieved when a patient can speak comfortably and confidently with their health care provider and strives to achieve this type of relationship with every person who walks into his exam rooms.
Born in Valparaiso, Dr. Garcia-Rios is excited to now care for the community that helped raise him. When not with patients, he enjoys spending time with his family and his interests include poetry, cars, and fitness activities such as running and biking.
