About Tyler Hamilton, D.O.
Raised in a small town in Kentucky, Tyler Hamilton, D.O. always saw himself as someone who would spend their life improving the lives of those around him by becoming a "country doctor". Combining his desire to help others and pairing it with his interest in the science of the human body and how medicine can be used to repair illnesses and injuries shapes his approach to care. As a Family Medicine physician at White-Wilson Medical Center in DeFuniak Springs, he is honored to get to help patients of all ages in close-knit community much like the one that he grew up in.
Dr. Hamilton is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and earned his medical degree from the University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. Afterwards, he completed his Family Medicine internship at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio and, later, the Ballad Health Family Medicine Residency in Big Stone, Virginia, where he gained extensive experience caring for patients with a variety of chronic health conditions.
Dr. Hamilton specializes in preventive medicine, the diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute illnesses and has a special interest in general psychiatric conditions and wound care. With the belief that the patient knows themselves better than anyone else, he prefers to utilize a "listening first" approach during his visits, allowing the patient to openly communicate about their health before he makes any judgements. Dr. Hamilton strives to treat his patients as if they were his family, approaching them with the same level of compassion and care that he would use with his mother or wife.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Hamilton enjoys being outdoors, partaking in hobbies such as deer hunting, bass fishing and shore/pier fishing. He also enjoys wood working and reading up on a variety of topics including theology, history, politics and philosophy.
