About Dr. Volquartsen
For most doctors, choosing their specialty comes after years of study and clinical rotations in a variety of different medical settings, but not so for Dale Volquartsen, M.D. Dr. Volquartsen knew from his teens when he worked with his mother to teach Sunday school that he wanted to dedicate his life to caring for children and, now, more than 30 years later he has just as much joy and passion for his work he does today as he did when he first started seeing patients.

Dr. Volquartsen began his journey into the health care field at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where he received his bachelor's degree. While at the university, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and entered into the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. Dr. Volquartsen then transitioned to Active Duty where he served in the Medical Corps. It was during this time that he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland before completing his pediatric internship and pediatric residency through the Wright-Patterson and Wright State University Combined Pediatric Residency Program at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio.

Over his 25 years of military service, Dr. Volquartsen has cared for patients both stateside and abroad, having served as Chief of Pediatrics and Chief of Medical Staff at many military heath facilities. Through this extensive experience and, after retiring, the years spent in civilian practice, he has developed a compassionate and joyful demeanor that makes him a favorite among his patients and their families. Dr. Volquartsen strives to instill confidence in the children in his care, as well as their families, because he believes that kids thrive best in healthy families. He infuses laughter into his visits whenever he can, believing a "joyful spirit" is good medicine and trying to administer a healthy "dose" whenever he can.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Volquartsen likes to spend time with his wife, who he credits for keeping him young, as well as their five daughters and many grandchildren, preferably at the beach or around a fire pit on a cool night. He enjoys being involved with his church, leading small groups and participating in medical missions.
