About Jennifer Reid
Jennifer Reid, APRN, is a family nurse practitioner at the White-Wilson Cardiology Clinic in Fort Walton Beach, working alongside cardiologist Dr. Rodney Powell.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, APRN Reid worked as an emergency room registered nurse, where she gained valuable experience caring for patients with critical and time-sensitive conditions, including stroke, heart attack and sepsis. Her experience in emergency medicine strengthened her ability to remain calm under pressure, think critically and quickly identify patients requiring urgent care.
APRN Reid chose to become a nurse practitioner because she wanted to build upon the clinical knowledge and patient relationships she developed as a registered nurse while taking a more active role in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients. She especially values the opportunity to educate patients about their health, helping them better understand their diagnoses, treatment plans and the steps they can take to improve their overall well-being.
Her interest in cardiology grew from her appreciation for the combination of physiology, critical thinking and long-term patient management involved in cardiovascular medicine. With cardiovascular conditions affecting patients across a wide range of ages, APRN Reid is particularly interested in early identification and helping patients address risk factors that may affect their long-term heart health.
APRN Reid takes a whole-person approach to patient care. Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or immediate concern, she takes time to listen to each patient’s questions, concerns and personal health goals. She believes in meeting patients where they are and working together to develop realistic, individualized care plans.
Outside of work, APRN Reid enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughter and their dog. She also enjoys going to the beach, participating in outdoor activities, working out and staying active.
