What is Immediate Care or Walk-In Care?
Immediate care and urgent care clinics are also referred to as Walk-in Clinics. Immediate Care, or walk-in care, provides health care services for illnesses and injuries needing urgent care and are often used when you are sick or injured and cannot get in to see your primary care doctor.
White-Wilson Immediate Care is open seven days a week in Fort Walton Beach; Monday through Friday in Destin; Monday through Saturday in Crestview, Navarre and Niceville. Our Immediate Care Clinics are here to treat your urgent care needs.
White-Wilson's Immediate Care Clinics treat patients for a variety of urgent care needs. Similar to urgent care, immediate care clinics provide an alternative to going to the Emergency Room for minor injuries and illnesses.
Immediate care typically offers the same services as an urgent care. However, it is important to note that your insurance company may have different benefits for urgent care than immediate care.
Immediate care facilities, similar to urgent care clinics, specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of non life-threatening illnesses and injuries included but not limited to:
- Urgent illness
- Flu, cold, strep throat, Upper Respiratory conditions, etc.
- Injuries such as sprains and strains, contusions and lacerations
- Skin conditions
- Motor vehicle and Workman's compensation accidents
- New onset inexplicable pain and discomfort
- Minor outpatient surgery for wounds, lesions or foreign body removal
Immediate care treatment is available for individuals of all
ages; however, it is not intended to be used instead of the Emergency
Room. For example, if you have a fever in excess of 104 degrees
and the fever is accompanied by other serious symptoms like vomiting,
dizziness, confusion, chills, etc., you should forgo immediate care
or urgent care, and go directly to the Emergency Room. Ultimately,
the purpose of immediate care services are to provide patients
with robust, quality and urgent care, eliminating the time and expense
associated with an Emergency Room visit.
Immediate care clinics are often confused with urgent care clinics
since they both operate like a walk-in clinic. Although urgent care
physicians and immediate care physicians can typically treat the
same ailments, your health insurance benefits may vary. Unlike urgent
care clinics, immediate care clinics charge similar to a standard
doctor's office visit. Additional fees may be incurred for any lab,
imaging or procedures needed at the point of service.

Immediate Care or Walk-In Care Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What is the difference between immediate
care, urgent care clinic and walk-in care?
Answer: Immediate care and urgent care facilities
are walk-in clinics because they are available when you need to
see a doctor or advanced practice clinician right away. Immediate care and urgent care differ in
how they bill. Immediate care clinics, such as White-Wilson's Immediate
Care Clinics, bill similarly to a physician's office visit.
Question: When should I go to an Immediate care
or urgent care clinic?
Answer: Immediate or urgent care facilities
treat non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, such as colds,
flu, sprains, rashes, etc. If you are experiencing life-threatening
symptoms, go directly to your nearest Emergency Room or call 911.
Question: Does White-Wilson Immediate Care accept
my health insurance plan?
Answer: White-Wilson Medical Center accepts
most major insurance plans. For details about your specific plan
and potential out of pocket costs, contact your health insurance
carrier.
Question: Why should I go to an immediate care
or walk-in clinic instead of the Emergency Room?
Answer: Compared to the Emergency Room, immediate
care or walk-in clinic care, often offers reduced wait times and
significant financial savings.
Question: Does White-Wilson Immediate Care treat
patients of all ages?
Answer: White-Wilson Immediate Care treats patients
of all ages, although pediatric patients under six months may need
to be seen by a pediatrician (determined on a case by case basis).
